San Diego went to a strong ground attack, keeping the ball and using the clock, limiting the touches Indianapolis and quarterback Andrew Luck had on the night. Ryan Mathews had his best performance of the 2013 season with 102 yards on 22 carries as the Chargers rushing attack netted 147 yards and they held on to the football for over 38 minutes of the game.
Luck went 18 of 30 for 202 yards and no touchdowns as the Colts managed just 267 total yards and three field goals, two of which came from long distance.
Phillip Rivers came into the game as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL, despite his poor showing at Oakland last week, but the veteran was solid, completing 22 of 33 throws for 237 yards and one touchdown to rookie sensation Keenan
Allen, but more important for the overall success of the team, Rivers had no turnovers and made smart decisions with the football.
San Diego is now 3-3 and back into contention for a spot in the playoffs. The Colts dropped just their second game of the year and are still favorites to win the AFC South.
