By Markos Papadatos     Oct 14, 2013 in Entertainment
Matthew West is one of the three artists that is nominated for the 2013 American Music Award (AMA) for "Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist."
He is up against fellow Christian recording artists TobyMac and Chris Tomlin. West is signed to Sparrow Records.
Throughout his career, West has won the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) award for Christian Music Songwriter/Artist of the Year, and he has been praised by The New York Times a "vivid and compelling songwriter with impressive approaches to the familiar." He has garnered four Grammy nominations as well.
From his latest studio album Into the Light, which was released last fall, both of its singles "Forgiveness" and "Hello My Name Is," were smash hits, the latter of which stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs charts for 17 weeks, thus making it one of most successful chart singles of all-time on those charts.
