article imageReview: Country star Chris Young shines on new album 'A.M.' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Oct 10, 2013 in Entertainment
RCA Nashville recording artist Chris Young released his latest studio album "A.M." on September 17. He co-wrote the majority of the album (6 out of its 11 tracks).
The CD debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Album charts, as well as No. 3 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts.
It opens with his lead-off single "Aw Naw" which is already a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and climbing.
It is followed by the mid-tempo "Hold You To It" and the stirring ballad "Lonely Eyes," which should be released as a single at some point in the future. An equally stellar ballad is "Goodbye," where the male narrator is trying to save his relationship from a break-up.
The title cut is upbeat and "Nothin' But the Cooler Left" is a fun drinking and feel good song. "Who I Am With You" is an authentic and impressive ballad. "Forgiveness" has a throwback vibe to it that will certainly please fans of traditional country music.
"We're Gonna Find It Tonight" has a melody that is reminiscent of Young's hit single "Aw Naw."
His CD closes with the love song "Lighters in the Air."
The Verdict
Chris Young's A.M. album is one of his best musical efforts to date. He has matured and grown as a songwriter and as a country vocalist. My all-time favorite CD is still The Man I Want To Be, since it features my two favorite recordings of his ("Voices" and "The Dashboard"), but "A.M." is definitely a close second. "Lonely Eyes," "Goodbye" and "Who I Am With You" are gems. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
