article imageAmerican Music Awards nominations revealed

By Tim O'Brien     Oct 10, 2013 in Entertainment
The American Music Awards were announced this morning (Oct. 10). Kelly Clarkson and will.i.am did the honors via a live stream on "Good Morning America."
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead this year with six nominations. Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake follow with five (5) nominations each.
The awards will be handed out Nov. 24 on ABC. It has already been announced that Miley Cyrus will perform. Of course she will. Take advantage of all the publicity of late (good and bad). Perhaps this is not a Miley meltdown but rather a brilliant piece of public relations and marketing.
Imagine Dragons have already been announced as performers as well.
For some reason, a new category has been added. Single of the Year will be awarded, which makes one wonder why this hasn't been a part of this all along. This is the 41st year for this award show and now this one pops up? There was a time when singles meant something, but with the downloads, etc., not so much anymore.
Perhaps a sign of the times or simply ridiculous was the announcement of Twitter Mirrors. They will set up in certain places backstage. The so-called "selfie stations" will let viewers enjoy those special moments.
