article imageSEC Football Scores: Georgia survives scare from Vols 34-31 OT

By Larry Seely     Oct 5, 2013 in Sports
Knoxville - Georgia jumped out to an early 17-3 lead over Tennessee, but the Bulldogs needed a late touchdown to send the game into overtime and eventually earned a hard fought road victory 34-31 over Tennessee.
Quarterback Aaron Murray had perhaps his worst game of then year, completing 19 of 35 passes for 196 yards, but three touchdown tosses, including a five yard pass to Rantavious Wooten with just :05 left in the game, helped the Bulldogs improve to 4-1 on the year and 3-0 in the tough SEC.
Tennessee responded from a slow start by scoring 28 points over the final 30 minutes of play, but a fumble in overtime cost the Volunteers a shot at an upset over the sixth ranked Bulldogs.
Quarterback Justin Worley completed 17 of 31 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown, but running back Rajion Neal was the offensive star as the youngster rushed for 148 yards and two scores to help bring the Vols back into the contest.
Georgia has another tough game next week when they take on Missouri, but after a close win on the road, home cooking should help this squad as they look to stay in contention for a BCS Championship berth.
