Winnipeg - B.C. Lions defense set the tone early, scoring the opening touchdown and forcing five total turnovers for the win against Winnipeg 53-17 and clinching a spot in the 2013 CFL Playoffs Friday night.
British Columbia quarterback Thomas DeMarco didn't need any heroics this week, but the youngster was solid once again, completing 15 of 21 passes for 170 yards and a score, but it was the Lions' defense that scored three times and set up most of the points for the Lions on the night to secure the victory.
Blue Bombers quarterback Max Hall was hit and miss, completing 14 of 24 for 169 yards and two touchdowns, but his two interceptions cost Winnipeg as they dropped to 2-11 for the year.
B.C. improved to 9-4 for the 2013 season and with the victory, moved to within .5 games of Calgary for the top spot in the West Division. It was the third straight win for the Lions who now have their next two games against Saskatchewan and the Stampeders, games that will likely decide the top team in the West heading into the playoffs.
