Queen Sofia was awaiting the arrival of King Juan Carlos at Quirón University hospital in Madrid, when a nude protester came prancing in.
The good news is that King Juan Carlos is “stable, comfortable and in good spirits” after undergoing surgery at the private Hospital on Tuesday.
The Spanish Monarch is expected to remain in hospital for another four to six days and will require six weeks of intravenous antibiotic therapy following the surgery.
King Juan Carlos will, however, have to go into surgery again within the next two months to fit a permanent replacement joint.
