Fuengirola - Running from October 6 to 12 each year, Fuengirola's annual "Feria del Rosario" (fair) is a feast for the eyes and camera, and loads of fun. Several different events are planned over the course of the fair and a visit is well worthwhile.
After the blazing summer heat, autumn is a welcoming time on the southern coast of Spain and Fuengirola is no exception. Still warm and sunny even at the beginning of October, the fair week is a great time to plan a more comfortable sunny holiday.
The photos included in this article are of previous events, to tempt your appetite for fun and frivolity. The video above shows the street parade at the start of last year's fair.
The fair is held each year in honor of the patron saint of Fuengirola and "perpetual mayoress", Our Lady the Virgin of the Rosary (Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Rosario).
Fuengirola's fair is one of the most prestigious in the Andalucían region and includes an extensive program of activities.
Throughout the length of the festivities, you are likely to see beautifully dressed ladies strolling in the streets...

Sometimes just driving along the avenues can become an encounter with a gorgeous horse - the sign is added each year to warn drivers that horse riders will be out on the streets:

Often you will find stalls selling local music, including that of the famous Spanish Flamenco singer Camarón - known as Camarón de la Isla - whose real name was José Monje Cruz. Camarón was considered one of the all time greatest flamenco singers who passed away on July 2, 1992 (aged 41). An example of Camarón's music can be enjoyed here on YouTube.

During the week, several high-level artistic performances are held at the Palace of Peace (Palacio de la Paz).
In the bull ring (Plaza de Toros), bull fighting can be watched (although the writer is against this "sport"), but there are also wonderful displays of the famous and beautiful Andalucían horses.
