Miami - Miami is one of the best stories in the early part of the 2013 NFL season as the Dolphins improved to 3-0 with a 27-23 comeback win over Atlanta on Sunday.
Ryan Tannehill led the charge as Miami drove down the field late in the fourth quarter for the go ahead score. The second year pro hit tight end Dion Sims for a one yard score with just :38 left in the game to seal the victory. Tannehill went 24 of 35 for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
Atlanta dominated on the field, gaining 377-326 yards and holding the football for over 14 more minutes than Miami, but the young quarterback made the most of his opportunities and the Dolphins remained tied for the AFC East lead with New England.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 23 of 38 throws for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the loss, Atlanta found a running game without starter Steven Jackson. Jacquizz Rodgers led the team with 86 yards on 18 carries and Jason Snelling added another 53 yards on just 11 carries, but despite the outstanding performances, Atlanta dropped to 1-2 on the year.
Miami has a big game next Monday night against the high scoring New Orleans Saints. Tannehill and company will need to play their best game of the year to stay unbeaten, but with a win like this over the Falcons, this team will have the confidence and momentum to play well on the road next week.
