article imagePatriots stay perfect with 23-3 victory over Tampa Bay

Foxboro - The New England Patriots played their best game of the 2013 NFL season with a 23-3 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. The win improved the team to 3-0 and leaders of the AFC East.
Tom Brady and his young group of skilled position weapons gained 381 total yards on the day and kicker Steven Gostkowski made three field goals, including one from 53 yards for the Patriots.
Brady finished the game with 225 yards passing and two touchdowns, but the ground game helped New England control the clock and pickup the win. LeGarrette Blount rushed for 65 yards on 14 carries and Brandon Bolden added another 51 yards on just three carries.
Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman has been under pressure for his play this season and he didn't help his cause on Sunday as he completed 19 of 41 passes for 236 yards, but three sacks and an interception halted a couple scoring drives and the Buccaneers chances for a win.
Running back Doug Martin was effective early and finished with 88 yards on 20 carries, but with his team trailing for the entire game, the Bucs needed to use the pass in the second half and abandoned the run.
New England now faces the toughest test on their schedule with games against Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New Orleans over the next three games, but this tough stretch will give fans and NFL experts a better idea of how good this team can be in 2013.
