article image'Grand Theft Auto V' hits the $1 billion mark in three days

Take-Two Interactive has announced that 'Grand Theft Auto V' has generated more than $1 billion in sales in three days. This officially makes it the fastest selling entertainment property of all time.
The game had already generated $800 million in sales with in 24 hours of its release.
Early in the week analysts at Sterne Agee and Robert W. Baird & Co announced that they estimated that the generate $1 billion is sales upon its release. The reports had exceeded Take-Two own expectations that the game will generate between $750 million - $800 million upon its launch
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated: "Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment. We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V."
By hitting the $1 billion mark in three days; Grand Theft Auto V has beat the record set by Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which hit the mark in 15 days. Prior to that, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 surprised the entertainment industry when it grossed over $1 billion in 16 days, beating the 17 day record of James Cameron's Avatar.
However the game has only been released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version is expected to be released in Fall 2013 while nothing has been said regarding a PS4 and Xbox One port.
