article imageRCMP ask public to use social media to help find sexual predator

Fredericton - Although the video has been on the Internet since 2005, police throughout North America have been unable to identify the man seen abusing a little girl. RCMP in New Brunswick are now asking for the public's help.
The video shows a man abusing a little girl who appears to be about three years old at the time it was made. The girl is believed to now be between the ages of 10 and 12.
The suspect is white, weighs between 180 and 200 pounds, and has brown hair. He has a distinctive mark on his right forearm and was wearing a gold ring on the ring finger of his left hand.
RCMP in New Brunswick came across the video during an investigation into an unrelated matter. Yesterday, the Mounties released three still photographs from the video. One shows a side view of the suspect's face while a second shows the ring on a finger of his left hand. The third picture illustrates the distinctive mark that appears on his right arm.
The RCMP refused to reveal details of the investigation that led them to discover the video.
Although various police departments seem to agree the video was made somewhere in North America, the RCMP have no reason to believe the predator and the child reside in New Brunswick. But they decided to do something about it.
Police are asking the public to do more than simply look at the pictures to see if they recognize the man. Cpl. Chantal Farrah said, "We're asking people to distribute the images via their social media networks and encourage their friends to share it in the hope that someone will know who he is and contact police."
The side view of the suspect has also been posted on the FBI's Endangered Child Alert Program page.
Anyone who thinks they recognize the man is asked to call their local police or if they wish to remain anonymous, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
