article imageInterview with country star Tyler Farr: 'Redneck Crazy' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 17, 2013 in Entertainment
Country singer Tyler Farr is signed to Columbia Records Nashville and he recently scored his first Top 5 hit on country radio with "Redneck Crazy."
His latest single has been certified gold and it was co-penned by Josh Kear, Mark Irwin and Chris Tompkins.
Farr remarked, "I didn't write that song actually, even though a lot of people think I wrote it. That song was pitched to me a couple of years back. I wrote my last single 'Hello Goodbye' about my ex-girlfriend who had cheated on me and 'Redneck Crazy' is the pissed off version of my last single, after a glass of moonshine or something. It was so unique and so different and it had this edginess to it. I was immediately drawn to this song and I had no idea that it would do as well as it has done."
He added, "We aimed for the fans and we went for it and it has landed in the Top 5 this week. It has been a crazy experience with how well the fans have reacted to it. It's very humbling and exciting at the same time. All of these emotions are going through me at one time. It has been pretty surreal."
The song's music video, which has garnered over five million views on YouTube, features cameos from such musical acts artists as Lee Brice and Colt Ford, as well as Willie Robertson from "Duck's Dynasty."
Farr noted that he is very blessed to have been around a great team of people and friends that have helped him out along the way. "It has been a combined effort from everybody," he acknowledged.
His forthcoming debut studio album "Redneck Crazy" is expected to be released on September 30. "Hopefully, this new album will get people to understand what it is that I do as a whole. There's more to me than 'Redneck Crazy' and I do more than that. This album is a collaboration of what I love and I try to make an album that I would like to listen to in my truck driving down a back road and enjoy. My goal is for people to enjoy it and to get something out of it. I picked the best songs and I put together something that represented me and it really spoke to country music listeners and fans," he said.
This fall is going to be quite busy for Farr since he will embark on Florida Georgia Line's headlining "Here's to the Good Times" tour, as well as Lee Brice's "The Otherside" tour. "Florida Georgia Line is one of the hottest acts right now and they are friends of mine. I will be out with them and Colt Ford all fall," he said. "I am trying to take it day by day and enjoy the ride and to keep on making music that is real and that people can relate to. I want to step up every year and keep on building."
On his day-to-day motivations, he shared, "I love playing music and I am very fortunate that I get to do that for a living. I want to be remembered and I would like to make it to the Country Music Hall of Fame someday. I want to get songs out there that make people laugh and help them through the hard times in their lives. I live and breathe country music and it's a big part of my life."
"At the end of the day success is happiness. If you are happy and you can do what you love to do and wake up every day doing that, then you are successful," Farr concluded.
