The duo is made up of Ryan Merchant and
Sebu Simonian, both of which served as songwriters, thus co-writing this new song themselves. They are signed to Capitol Records.
Within a 10 day time period, their music video has garnered almost 1.7 million views on their YouTube page. It is quite different than anything that they previously done before since the actors are all dressed up as animals and it includes a courtroom scene, where the main character, a zebra, is tried in court for being an impostor. The "Kangaroo Court" video features cameos from such popular actors as Darren Criss from "Glee" and Shannon Woodward from "Raising Hope."
Merchant and Simonian also co-directed their video, along with award-winning director Carlos Lopez Estrada; moreover, it was co-produced by Kim Stuckwisch and Danny Lockwood.
The Verdict
The opening melody of "Kangaroo Court" is catchy, the song's instrumentals are infectious and it has a neat arrangement to it. Capital Cities' vocals are smooth throughout. Similar to "Safe and Sound," this new single deserves to fare well on the radio airwaves.
