Los Angeles - Good news for "Breaking Bad" series lovers: there's more "bad" to come after the much-anticipated season five finale. Sort of.
Announced Sept. 11, AMC confirmed that they and Sony Pictures Television are going ahead with a prequel to AMC's popular drama, "Breaking Bad," reports Deadline.com. The series will center around "Breaking Bad" character Saul Goodman, attorney to meth chemist and dealer Walter White, before he met White.
AMC and and Sony Pictures Televsion confirmed "Better Call Saul" as a working title for the project, reports Hollywood Reporter.
New York Daily News reports that Bob Odenkirk has been secured to play the role of Goodman, which he has become known for in "Breaking Bad."
"I would love to do it," Odenkirk told New York Daily News, adding "I'd do it because if Vince [Gilligan] wrote it, it's going to be awesome."
According to Hollywood Reporter, Peter Gould, the writer-producer who created the Goodman character in "Breaking Bad" season two, is heading the prequel project. Further, he and Gilligan created the idea of the spinoff series. Gilligan is expected to continue his involvement with the project. That said, the actual series order isn't expected until Gould, Gilligan and Odenkirk have finalized deals, reports Hollywood Reporter.
