By Markos Papadatos     Sep 10, 2013 in Entertainment
Farmingville - On September 7, award-winning country duo Florida Georgia Line was able to get the party started in Farmingville, New York.
This past April, the duo was named “New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year” and “New Artist of the Year” by the Academy of Country Music (ACM).
They performed for “Vets Rock,” which was presented by the Long Island country music station, “My Country 96.1 FM.”
The duo is made up of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. They are signed to Republic Nashville, an imprint of the Big Machine Label Group.
They commenced their set with “It’z Just What We Do,” which was met with a raucous response from the audience.
Florida Georgia Line soared on the title cut of their album “Here’s To The Good Times.”
“New York, are we having a good time yet or not?” Hubbard asked the Long Island crowd.
Equally fun was their rendition of their chart-topping single “Get Your Shine On,” which was well-received.
“Long Island, everybody get your hands up tonight,” Kelley stated midway through the song.
“Thank you guys for making this our second No. 1 single,” Hubbard added.
During their performance of the party anthem tune “Party People,” Hubbard from the duo went in the audience and they were enjoying his singing, meanwhile Kelley was able to get the fans to get their hands up in the air.
Their rendition of their latest radio single “Round Here” was impressive and melodically
infectious.
Florida Georgia Line’s highlight vocal of the evening was their breakthrough single “Cruise,” where they were able to get everybody in the crowd on their feet. Although rapper Nelly was not present at this concert, Hubbard sang his rap vocal parts quite well. In return, the fans rewarded them with a standing ovation.
“Thank you for making this our first No. 1 single,” Hubbard said with appreciation and their set ended with an instrumental reprise of “Cruise.”
The Verdict
Overall, Florida Georgia Line was electrifying at “Vets Rock” and they put on a high-energy show. Although this year’s “Vets Rock” lineup was filled with many extremely talented and gifted performers, this breakout country duo was definitely the fan-favorite performers of the evening. Their show is a substantial indication that all of the success that they are having lately is indeed based on merit and their ability to connect well with their fans. Florida Georgia Line is worth checking out any time they are in the New York area.
