article imageNFL Scores: 49ers win shootout over Packers 34-28

By Larry Seely     Sep 8, 2013 in Sports
San Francisco - 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick proved once again that youth is being served in the NFL as he led San Francisco to a 34-28 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon.
The second year pro completed 27 of 39 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns, but surprisingly managed just 22 yards on the ground as the Packers defense tried to keep the youngster within the pocket.
Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin had a memorable first game for San Francisco as he gained 208 yards on 13 receptions and one touchdown. Vernon Davis added 98 yards and two scores as the pair quickly became the go to guys when the team needed a big play.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went 21 of 37 for 333 yards and three scores, but two sacks and good pressure by the 49ers defense forced several bad throws and helped lead to the win. Wide receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb both had over 100 yards receiving and a score, plus rookie running back Eddie Lacy had his first professional touchdown, but two turnovers and a lack of big plays by the defense made it difficult on Green Bay.
San Francisco is picked by many NFL experts to represent the NFC once again in the Super Bowl, but they have a tough game next week when they travel to Seattle and face their division rival Seahawks in a prime time game on Sunday night.
