article imageNFL Scores: Colts rally past Raiders 21-17

By Larry Seely     Sep 8, 2013 in Sports
Indianapolis - Indianapolis jumped to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter and appeared to be in control with their game against Oakland, but quarterback Andrew Luck had to rally the troops to pull off a 21-17 victory over the Raiders.
Luck led a late fourth quarter drive that ended with the second year signal caller scrambling up the middle for a 19 yard scoring run that gave his Colts the lead. The defense then help off a late drive for the victory at home.
Oakland dominated the game in the second and third quarters, actually out gaining Indy 388-305 yards. Terrelle Pryor made the most of his first start in the NFL as the young signal caller went 19-29 for 217 yards and a score, but two interceptions and a lack of playing experience showed in crucial situations and despite a solid team effort, the Raiders start the year 0-1.
Luck was the difference in the game of young quarterbacks as he completed 18 of 23 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns. The Colts also ran the ball effectively as Vick Ballard gained 63 yards on 13 carries and Luck added another 38 yards.
Oakland had five sacks on defense, but once again, turnovers and penalties played a big role in the final outcome and the more disciplined Colts came away with the hard fought win.
Indianapolis will look to go 2-0 on the year as they host the Miami Dolphins next weekend. Oakland will look for their first win when they host Jacksonville in week 2.
