Westbury - On September 6, American Idol alumna Ayla Brown opened for country songstress Sara Evans at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Long Island, New York.
She backed herself solely on acoustic guitar with her stunning vocals. She was the 13th place finalist of the fifth season of the reality singing competition, American Idol.
A Massachusetts native and former basketball player, she noted that this marked her second time performing at this venue, since she had previously opened for country star Lee Brice on July 11, 2013.
Brown commenced her set with “When You Grow Up” and it was followed by “Plain Old Me,” a song which she dubbed as the “polar opposite” of her opening number.
She continued with “Hero in Her Hometown,” where she paid tribute to the females in the military. This tune was simultaneously a patriotic one, as well as a “girl power” anthem.
Brown delivered on such vocals as “Miss You Already” and her sassy “Beat By a Girl.”
She took the opportunity to thank Sara Evans to have her as an opening act, and she subsequently praised Evans for her talent and natural beauty.
Brown concluded her six-song set with her current single “Pride of America.”
“Thank you guys so much,” she concluded. “I cannot wait to meet you guys out there,” she added and took the time to meet all of her fans at the merchandise table following her show.
Conclusion
Overall, Ayla Brown put on a neat show at Westbury. Her vocals were upbeat and refreshing and she possessed a bubbly personality that connected well with the audience. She deserved a round of applause for a job well done.
According to fan and concertgoer Angelica McKessy, she remarked, “I really hope Ayla Brown records the first two songs she performed and soon. I believe they have hit potential.”
