article imageReview: Singer Lissie delivers on single 'Further Away (Romance Police)' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 7, 2013 in Entertainment
Rock and folk artist Lissie is expected to release her new album “Back to Forever” on October 8 on Fat Possum Records and Columbia Records.
The album features her lead single “Further Away (Romance Police).”
Throughout her career, Lissie has opened for such artists as “The Boss,” Bruce Springsteen, as well as Tom Petty; moreover, she was a featured artist and speaker at a TED conference. In 2010, Paste Magazine selected her as their pick for the “Top New Solo Artist.”
“Further Away (Romance Police)” has a retro 80s vibe to it and her sultry vocals are organic and reminiscent to those of Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac, where the listener can recall “Stand Back.” It is both sonically and lyrically powerful.
The songstress is also expected to be coming to the New York City area with City and Colour to play at Central Park’s Summerstage on Friday, September 20. In addition, Lissie will be playing at the Austin City Limits (ACL) festival in October of 2013.
The Verdict
Lissie delivers on “Further Away (Romance Police),” as well as on its equally compelling music video. The song is infectious and she is certainly one of music’s best-kept secrets, but hopefully with her new album “Back to Forever,” the secret will be out and the whole world will get to explore the talent of Lissie.
She is certainly one of the most talented female singer-songwriters in the rock and rock genres, along with Brandi Carlile.
