article imageInterview with country music's Dee Jay Silver: 'Country Club' EP Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 5, 2013 in Entertainment
On September 5, country DJ, producer and remixer Dee Jay Silver took some time from his day in Tallahassee, Florida, to chat about his musical endeavors.
Silver is no stranger to the music scene in Nashville. He has been touring for over 10 years and he has been performing at premier venues in almost every major market in the United States, Mexico and Canada. “I have been doing Spring Break shows for about 15 years now and I have played in nightclubs in Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Chicago,” he said. “My music is party music and I love to play live every single night. That’s what I have always done.”
Over the last few years, Silver has warmed up stages for millions of fans while touring with country superstar Jason Aldean, and to this day, he continues to be a part of Aldean’s latest “2013 Night Train” tour which runs through October of 2013. He plays between performances by such country artists as Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett.
On March 2, 2013, Silver played with Jason Aldean for a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City. “That was one of the biggest honor of a lifetime to play there. Billy Joel, Jay-Z and Swedish House Mafia have all played there,” he said.
Most recently, in 2013, Silver released his “Country Club” EP which features remixed songs from several top artists in the traditional and modern country genres. These musical acts whose songs were remixed by Silver include Alabama (“Dixieland Delight”), Dolly Parton (“Jolene”), Carrie Underwood (“Two Black Cadillacs”), Jake Owen (“Barefoot Blue Jean Night”), as well as Love and Theft (“Angel Eyes”). “Stephen and Eric from Love and Theft are two of my very good friends and their song ‘Angel Eyes’ was already great and there was no way to make it better, but we did try to get it to other listeners,” he said.
Particularly impressive about his remix of Underwood’s “Two Black Cadillacs” is that he blended it in with Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” “That was perfect. These two songs were made for each other since it was the same story 25 years later,” he said.
Silver is expected to be the official DJ for the Tennessee Titans NFL Team, where he will perform live during home games that are held at LP Field in Nashville on September 22, November 10 and 14, as well as December 15 and 29. “I am doing every home game that I can since I am a huge fan of the Tennessee Titans, so when they called my agent I jumped on the opportunity immediately. The first game on September 22 falls on my birthday,” he shared.
The country DJ also revealed that his own tour is kicking off on Halloween night on October 31, 2013, which will include live performances from various country artist guests.
He listed Darius Rucker as his dream collaboration choice, especially since he is “great” and he is “the epitome of crossover country.” “I would love to also work with Luke Bryan and Eric Church since those are all my boys,” he said. “I am a fan of so many people, especially Florida Georgia Line and I just think we could make some history with that.”
Silver also praised country songstress Martina McBride. “Martina is a rock-star. Anybody who doesn’t like Martina McBride needs to get their heads checked that’s for sure,” he said.
