Paul McDonald from the 2011 season of American Idol performed at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, on September 1.
The rock singer-songwriter opened for pop group Hanson, as part of their “Anthem World Tour.”
McDonald took some time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions after his acoustic live performance (which consisted of a 45 minute set), prior to meeting and greeting his fans at the merchandise table.
He complimented the sibling musical trio Hanson by stating, “Touring with Hanson has been really great. They are some of the nicest and most talented musicians that I have ever met. They are all cool, great and genuine individuals.”
McDonald added, “It has been a true blessing to jump into their world. Their fans have been really supportive of my music as well.”
On performing at The Paramount in the Long Island area in New York, McDonald remarked, “This is probably one of the coolest venues that we have played. It has a great vibe to it and it is really cool. The Paramount has the best sound that we have experienced on tour so far. It’s great to be back again in New York City.”
This marks McDonald's second visit to the Long Island area of New York in recent years.
He previously played at Nassau Coliseum, a major arena, as part of the “American Idols Live 2011 Tour,” where he shared the stage with fellow Idol finalists as Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone, James Durbin and Haley Reinhart.
McDonald also plays shows with his band, The Grand Magnolias, and he is married to Nikki Reed.
