article imageRockstar asks online retailers not to mail 'GTA V' early

By Stan Rezaee     Sep 5, 2013 in Gaming
Rockstar Games has asked online retailers to not mail the pre-ordered copies of "Grand Theft Auto V" before September 16, a day before the games official launch.
The request to online retailers is an attempt by Rockstar Games to avoid customers receiving their copy of the game a day before the official launch. In the past, some online retailers have caused friction with game publishers for offering the game a few days early before the official release date.
Videogamer.com broke the story after obtaining an email from GAME, an online retailer, that was sent to customers who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto V. The email states: GTA V is released on 17th September and Rockstar, who publish it, have worked very hard to make it the biggest gaming launch ever. They have requested that no UK retailer despatch GTA V before the 16th September and GAME, along with all reputable retailers, will respect this request.
Ben Parfitt, Online Editor of MCVUK.com, points out that an unforeseen consequence of Rockstar's request could be customers receiving their copy of the game after the official release date.
While the story broke regarding UK retailers, it could be speculated that US retailers have also been asked to do the same.
Grand Theft Auto V will be the 15th game in the series and will continue in the same timeline set by Grand Theft Auto IV. It will be released on Sept. 17, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
