Pop music superstar Katy Perry has finally dethroned Robin Thicke's No. 1 "Blurred Lines" with her latest single "Roar."
Thicke's single has stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 12 weeks, but Perry had enough stamina and fan support to surpass him.
Billboard magazine tweeted the pop songstress with the news on her chart-topping single, and Perry replied back via Twitter by stating "Well Thank U!"
"Roar" made it to the top after four weeks on the charts, and this marks the eighth No. 1 single of her career. It is the lead single from her upcoming studio album "Prism," which will be out on October 22 via Capitol Records.
Perry's previous hit singles include her breakthrough song "I Kissed a Girl," "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "Last Friday Night," "E.T." and "Part of Me."
