Johannesburg - South African President Jacob Zuma is happy that Nelson Mandela has been discharged from the hospital and has returned home.
He says Mandela remains in critical condition, but that the fact that he left the hospital "shows progress," The Associated Press reports.
The President said Tuesday he is happy Mandela is home and is "responding to treatment."
Zuma said the people of South Africa were also happy to see that Nelson Mandela had returned home, BBC News reports.
The former anti-apartheid leader, who is now 95-years-old was taken by ambulance to his home in Johannesburg Sunday.
"Madiba's condition remains critical and is at times unstable," the presidency said in an official statement on its website Sunday.
"Nevertheless, his team of doctors are convinced that he will receive the same level of intensive care at his ... home that he received in Pretoria."
