On September 2, country duo Florida Georgia Line played for a live crowd for NBC’s “Today Show” at Rockefeller Plaza as part of the “Toyota Concert Series.”
Florida Georgia Line is made up of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley and they are signed to Republic Nashville.
They performed their hit single “Cruise,” and were joined by popular rapper Nelly.
“Florida Georgia Line and Nelly rocking our plaza on a Labor Day morning. Well done fellas,” co-host Willie Geist said complimenting the performers.
Following their well-received performance, they were interviewed by the “Today Show” co-hosts, Willie and Savannah Guthrie, where they opened up about their collaboration with Nelly.
According to Hubbard, he remarked, “We are on the same label and we’ve been a huge fan of Nelly since probably middle school. We heard he was interested in doing a remix and we were all jacked up about it. We gave him about a day and he sent up the song back and we were blown away by it, so it was a huge honor.”
Nelly subsequently revealed that he is a huge fan of country music and he leaves it up to the song and he allowed the fans to judge for themselves. “It was an honor and a pleasure and the song was a smash,” Nelly said.
Florida Georgia Line also sang their newest single “Round Here,” which sits at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, for the week ending September 7.
