article image‘Queen Latifah’ show launch: Gyllenhaal, Travolta, Foxx and Stone

The actors Jake Gyllenhaal, John Travolta, Jamie Foxx and Sharon Stone will all help to launch Queen Latifah’s first talk show, on CBS stations, 16 September.
Fellow actor Will Smith – who acts as a co-executive producer along with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith – will also guest during the first week of the debut season of The Queen Latifah Show.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Latifah said of her guest line-up, “I cannot think of a more talented and fun group of people to share the stage with in celebration of the launch of my new show.”
As well as interviewing previously advertised celebrity guests, The Queen Latifah Show will also feature surprise guests and include musical acts, comedy sketches and interviews with people who have helped their local communities.
“I am honoured to have the support of so many long-time friends and colleagues as I begin this journey, and I look forward to sharing this experience with all of them and with the many new friends I will make along the way,” she added.
Meanwhile, according to Digital Spy, Latifah is hoping that her long-time friend, the singer Jay-Z, will agree to come on the show. “I’ve known Jay-Z for 20 years. I’ve watched his evolution and he’s watched mine. We’re all proud of each other.”
The President of the United States, Barack Obama, and First Lady, Michelle Obama, have also been given an open invitation to appear on the show, which will launch next month, on CBS stations on Monday, 16 September.
Queen Latifah is an is an American actor, singer-songwriter, rapper, model, comedian and producer. Her film career includes parts in Chicago (2002), Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Hairspray (2007) and Joyful Noise (2012). This will be Latifah’s second talk-show series, the first, also called The Queen Latifah Show, having aired on between 1999 and 2001.
The Queen Latifah Show is to be produced by Sony Pictures Television.
