Tegucigalpa - A landslide provoked by heavy rain in Northern Honduras killed six children in the village of La Chicharronera Wednesday night.
Reuters reported that the victims, cousins, sisters and brothers from the same family, were between one and nine years old.
"The children were playing in a room and were buried in an avalanche of earth, mud and rocks that collapsed two houses. The children were all siblings and cousins," fire services spokesman Oscar Triminio told Reuters.
The village is 93 miles north of the capital city of Tegucigalpa, where heavy thunderstorms are in the forecast tonight and tomorrow.
