article imageNFL Scores: Saints rally past Texans 31-23

By Larry Seely     Aug 25, 2013 in Sports
Houston - Houston opened up a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, but their backups couldn't hold on as the Saints came from behind and beat the Texans 31-23 in NFL preseason action on Sunday.
Quarterback Matt Schaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson looked ready to start the season as both had a terrific first half for Houston. Schaub went 15-26 for 213 yards and Johnson made 7 catches for 131 yards.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees went 4-6 for 104 yards and a score in limited action, but backups Luke McCown and Ryan Griffin led the comeback as the two combined for 204 yards through the air and three touchdowns.
Texans backup running back Ben Tate proved once again why he is sop valuable as he replaced injured starter Arian Foster and rushed for 74 yards on just 11 carries and one touchdown. Foster is expected back for the NFL regular season opener in two weeks, but with Tate in the backfield, no need for Houston to rush their star back into the lineup.
Week 3 of the preseason usually gives the fans the best opportunity to see the starters as few will play next weekend. These two teams are both expected to challenge for a spot in the playoffs and with their offensive performance this week, both look ready for the 2013 season.
