By Markos Papadatos     Aug 24, 2013 in Entertainment
Esteemed singer, songwriter and guitar player Dale Ann Bradley is the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) “Female Vocalist of the Year.”
She has won this prestigious IBMA award for “Female Vocalist of the Year” five times in her career, and she is nominated again this year, along with such female bluegrass musicians as Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, Sonya Isaacs and Amanda Smith.
Bradley has been praised by Grammy-winning artists Ricky Skaggs, as well as Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski from Union Station, as one of the best singers that the bluegrass and country genres of music have to offer and rightfully so. Fans, music critics and her peers in the music industry have dubbed Bradley as the “Queen of Bluegrass Soul.”
Her latest studio album “Somewhere South of Crazy,” which was produced by Alison Brown, features such hit songs as the title cut (which is a collaboration with country vocalist Pam Tillis), the poignant “Come Home Good Boy” and “Next to Nothing.”
On being nominated for yet another “Female Vocalist of the Year” award, the songstress shared, “I was very surprised and I am thrilled that they still like what I do. I have all the respect in the world for all the other artists in the category. The nomination itself is a great nod since there are so many great people out there doing a wonderful job.”
Regarding Bradley’s plans for the future, she remarked, “We are going to record an all-new album, where I will collaborate with different male artists from different genre of music such as country, bluegrass and rock. I hope to put together a nice tour for this new album that is coming up. I will keep on making music and I will stay true to who I am. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2014.”
