Lady Gaga's 'Applause' becomes a No. 1 hit on Billboard

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 24, 2013 in Entertainment
On August 22, pop music superstar Lady Gaga’s new single “Applause” has officially made its way into the Billboard charts.
According to her official Facebook page, she posted to her fans, which are affectionately dubbed as “Little Monsters,” about the commercial success of her new radio single. “Applause is back at No. 1 on the worldwide charts and we are just getting started,” she stated.
It debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts which is the same position where two of her previous singles “You and I” and “Paparazzi” peaked.
“Applause” also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance and Electronic Songs charts, for the week ending August 31, which is quite an accomplishment since on the previous week it was a No. 16, and not many singles are able to make that big of that jump on those charts.
Gaga will be performing “Applause” on the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, so pop fans and viewers ought to tune in, since this will mark the song’s first live performance.
