The CNE opening day 2013 has rolled around again. The EX's shows, fun and excitement fill the final weeks of summer culminating in the end of summer Canadian International Air Show featuring the CF Snowbirds.
The Canadian International Airshow has capped off the final weekend of summer at The EX since 1949. The Canadian National Exhibition, better known these days by its short form "The EX" is an annual tradition for many Canadian families.
Wikipedia notes the CNE opened for its first time in 1879 to promote agriculture and technology. Today, in its 135th season, agriculture as well as technology is still a large part of the show along with the famous midway, concerts, food building and shopping, there is something for everyone to come for.

The highlight of CNE for many is the Canadian International Air Show. You don't have to go to The EX to attend the Airshow. People watch from marinas, boats or other lake front properties on Lake Ontario where they have a view of the show. However you choose to watch, finish out the summer watching the CF Snowbirds and other acts fly over the city scape performing their breathtaking acrobatic maneuvers.

Spending the day lets you see all the performers. You can check out the 2013 line up at the Canadian International Airshow website and save a little a money if you purchase tickets early. Last year the T33 Mako Shark demonstration and the C130 Hercules attempt to make a mid air refuel were early performances. Find a good viewing area early and see the full show. There is lots of great viewing areas to be found.

The CF snowbirds performance is eagerly awaited all day and the last to come out. When they finally fly across the sky and swoop in on the spectators the crowd goes crazy. It's what they're all waiting for.
