He is preparing to embark on the final leg of his tour, “The Cowboy Rides Away,” and he recently celebrated his 60th career No. 1 single.
In November of 2013,
Billboard Magazine is going to honor “King George” with their “Legend of Live Award” at the Billboard Touring Awards in New York City, thus making him the first country artist to ever receive this coveted award. This is
Billboard’s highest accolade and previous recipients have included such iconic musical acts as Neil Diamond, Elton John, The Allman Brothers Band, Journey and Rush.
According to Country Music Hall of Famer George Strait, he remarked in a press statement, “There’s nothing more rewarding than performing in front of a sold-out, pumped-up, loud crowd. That’s what keeps us coming back. I love it.”
In an effort to celebrate this prestigious honor,
Billboard ran its largest-ever spotlight issue with a cover story that exceeds 60 pages to pay homage to George Strait. This issue is expected to his newsstands on August 24.
