By Anne Sewell     Aug 16, 2013 in Travel
Fuengirola - Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain is quite possibly the most multi-cultural town in all of Spain. Many of the world's citizens are represented here.
To prove this, each year the town holds the "Feria Internacional de los Pueblos" or International Fair, every year during April. The countries represented tend to vary each year, but you can always be assured of an interesting time.
To start the festivities, there is a parade through the town all the way to the fairgrounds.
Do not be surprised to see Israelis and Palestinians parading down the street in close proximity, followed by the Zoroastrians from Iran! The sign held by the lady reads, "The three pillars of life: Think well, speak well, do good."

For 4 days, the local fairgrounds are transformed into a mini-world, with stands, restaurants, bars and displays representing most of the international residents of the town.
The fairgrounds are packed with people, and there is food, dancing and entertainment from the four corners of the world.
Eat the best barbecued beef and watch an exciting tango show at the Argentinian stand, watch the Egyptians perform a fascinating dance and buy curios from their stall. These are just a couple of the attractions on show each year.

You can buy gifts and mementos from many of the countries represented, eat delicious food, and generally enjoy a fascinating parade in the streets of the various country people in their national dress.
Even Vietnam is represented in a stand offering their finest foods:

And China put on a stunning display in the street parade:

The Japanese ladies made a fine display in their traditional clothing:
