article imageAndroid 5.0 Key Lime Pie to align with Nexus 5 launch this fall?

By Milton Este     Aug 15, 2013 in Technology
The much anticipated Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie may be arriving soon and possibly at the same time as the revealing of the Google Nexus 5 smartphone.
The release is hinted to be in October, during the Android BBQ conference in Texas. Google will be hosting a two day gathering to reflect on the upcoming Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie mobile operating system update, Nexus 5 smartphone, and 2nd generation Nexus 10 tablets. Furthermore, many have speculated the release of Google Babble, a messaging application that allows for unified service on Talk, Hangout, Voice, Messenger, and Chat, in the operating system.
Of course, there is still the debate as to whether or not the Nexus 5 has been released as the LG G2. It looks like the LG G2 serves more as a guide to the Nexus 5's potential specifications. Both Product-Reviews and StarkInsider think so, expect Clinton Stark over at StarkInsider requests:
[...]Google and LG, please do make the G2 the Nexus 5
Any chance Google will be holding off on the Nexus 5? Probably not, especially now that the Nexus 4 needs a refresh in order to compete with the recent Moto X and LG G2 releases.
According to GottaBeMobile, Taylor Wimberly, successfully predicted the Moto X, suggests that the new smartphone will be made by Motorola and unveiled in October to line up with the release date of the Nexus 4.
Finally, the Nexus 5 may also be the first smartphone to run the long anticipated Android 5.0 update. Currently, there has been no word as to if current Android 4.0 smartphones are upgradable to Android 5.0.
