Arrest warrant issued for 'bedroom dentist'

By Amanda Byas     Aug 12, 2013 in Crime
Burnaby - A B.C. Supreme Court justice issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect accused of running an illegal dental clinic in Burnaby, B.C.
The warrant was for David Wu, who also goes by Tung Shen Wu. The warrant was issued Monday morning and is valid in B.C., but authorities are not sure if Wu is still in the province.
An investigator with College of Dental Surgeons of B.C. has been looking for Wu since Thursday. The college is looking for Wu because he has been operating without a permit.
The college issued a public warning last week after it was revealed Wu, 62, has been operating an illegal clinic out of his house. Anyone who has used Wu during the last 20 years is advised to be tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV.
CBC News obtained video footage from the raid at the clinic, which revealed filthy and disorganized conditions.
The video also shows the living room of the house was set up as the waiting room and the bedroom was the dental office, which had a dirty floor, shelves, and walls.
There was no evidence of any sterilized water. The College of Dental Surgeons of B.C. was expected to reveal more information at a press meeting Monday, Aug. 12.
