article imageTim McGraw lawsuit by former label dismissed by District Court

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 10, 2013 in Entertainment
On August 9, it was announced that Curb Records’ lawsuit against Tim McGraw and the Big Machine Label Group has been dismissed.
This lawsuit was initially filed by Curb Records against the country mega-star and his new label back in May of 2011 under the grounds of “breach of contract.”
The president and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group, Scott Borchetta, remarked in a press statement, “We’re very pleased that the District Court has dismissed Curb Records’ lawsuit against Tim McGraw and Big Machine Records.”
Borchetta added, “Our number one goal and intention at the Big Machine Label Group is to sign great artists with great vision and do everything in our power to create an environment for them to do their best work. Since Tim McGraw has been a member of Big Machine Records, everyone has witnessed an incredible surge in popularity and demand for his musical releases and live performances. His sales and airplay results rival the best of his career and we’re just getting started.”
Mr. Borchetta’s remarks couldn’t have been truer. His latest album “Two Lanes of Freedom,” which was released via Big Machine Records, had reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Album charts, for the week ending February 25, 2013, and it is nearing gold certification; moreover, his lead single “Truck Yeah” went to No. 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and his follow-up singles “One of Those Nights” and “Highway Don’t Care,” which features Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, both went to No. 1 on the same charts.
Tim’s latest radio single, “Southern Girl,” is already in the Top 20, sitting at No. 19, for the week ending August 17, 2013, even after charting for only six weeks.
