article imageMLB Scores: Max Scherzer leads Tigers to 12th straight victory

By Larry Seely     Aug 8, 2013 in Sports
Cleveland - The Detroit Tigers are on a role as the hottest team in the American League as they won their 12th straight game on Thursday night with a convincing 10-3 win on the road over the Cleveland Indians.
Max Scherzer won his 17th game of the year, the most in the MLB as the Tigers starting pitcher went seven innings and allowed just two runs, while striking out five Cleveland hitters. The win put the right handed pitcher at 17-1 for the season and on track to win the AL Cy Young Award with another outstanding game.
The Tigers jumped out early with six runs in the third inning and followed that up with two more in the fourth and fifth. Five Detroit batters had two hits in the game with Miguel Cabrera and Víctor Martínez the big guns on the night, each driving in three runs.
Cleveland has now dropped to eight games behind Detroit for the top spot in the AL East, but the Indians are still in the race for a wild card berth as the team is just three games behind Texas.
There are some big winning streaks in the MLB at the moment and several teams playing good baseball, but the Tigers are on a mission to avenge their four game sweep in last years World Series and playing some great ball this summer, leading many experts to predict they will get their chance to put last year behind them and get another shot at being World Champions.
