London - The Friends Life t20 2013 quarter-finals will be played between August 6 and 8 and will see the defending champions Hampshire, former winners Somerset and surprise entrants Durham go in with a chance to make it to the Finals Day.
After 90 league games spread across three divisions and 18 teams, it's the quarter-final stage of the Friends Life t20 2013 and the four knock-out matches will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Friends Life t20 quarter-final schedule, Surrey will host Somerset at the Oval which will be followed by the second knock-out match of the day between Northamptonshire and Durham. This will be played at Northampton.
On Wednesday, the third quarter-final of the tournament will be played between defending champion Hampshire and Lancashire at the Rose Bowl in Southampton before Nottinghamshire square off against Essex at Nottingham.
Hampshire are the form team in the competition and will remain favourites to win the competition, after having lost only one game in the entire group stage. Having won the title last season, they know what it takes to get to the Friends Life finals day and will, therefore, be automatic favourites to beat Lancashire.
And then there's Somerset, who have gotten themselves to the finals day so many times that it's difficult to see why they aren't winning any titles. It's probably due to the fact that they choke consistently towards the end despite making good starts, and Surrey stalwart Azhar Mahmood wants to make good of this issue.
According to theStandard, Mahmood said:
Somerset have had a record of coming unstuck on the big days in Twenty20 cricket and the hope is they’ll do that again. That’s what we’re aiming for.
Surely Somerset would have taken note of this and will look to improve upon their performance in the quarter-finals.
