Fuengirola - Fuengirola has experienced a tremor of magnitude 4.1 on Sunday night. No damage or injuries have been reported as the quake was at a depth of 54 kms.
Nobody in town knew about it at the time, but Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain experienced a 4.1-magnitude earthquake at 23:55 pm on Sunday night.
According to the 112 emergency service, no calls were received from individuals reporting the tremor and no injuries or damage have been reported. This is because the quake was reportedly at a depth of 54 kilometers and does not appear to have affected the town itself.
The epicenter latitude / longitude was: 36.5245°N / 4.5757°W and the nearest volcano is Olot Field (874 km away and 90 km from Barcelona).
Using the latitude and longitude on Google maps shows the location of the quake to be some distance out at sea.
The writer of this article lives in Fuengirola and confirms that she didn't feel a thing.
