Rock and roll sensation Joan Jett announced today that she will release her newest studio album “Unvarnished,” on October 1, via the Blackheart Records label.
This marks her 14th studio album, as well as her first new studio effort in more than seven years. It will feature her lead single “Any Weather,” which she will debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on August 8 and it will available on iTunes two days prior to her television performance. The CD is expected to have ten original tracks and a deluxe edition of four additional bonus tracks.
In a press release, the rock songstress noted that this album is the “most autobiographical project” that she has ever done, since it allowed her to write about some of life’s hardest passages, such as the loss of both of her parents. The release further indicated that her record covers other subjects such as “applauding the determination of Hurricane Sandy’s victims and lighthearted commentary on today’s trend of over-sharing.”
In “Unvanished,” Joan collaborated with such musicians as Dave Grohl and Against Me’s Laura Jane Grace and her longtime writing partner Kenny Laguna.
Most recently, Joan was honored at this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival and the City of West Hollywood officially proclaimed August 1 as “Joan Jett Day.”
In the past two years alone, Joan has garnered consecutive nominations for the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
