Washington - An informal study determined that people in Washington, DC were the least likely to use the honor system when it came to paying for bottles of tea. This marks the second year in a row that the nation's capital has received the unflattering distinction.
According to Yahoo! News, the makers of Honest Tea recently conducted an experiment by setting up unattended kiosks around the city offering bottles of tea for $1. People were requested to leave their payment as part of the honor system. Other states across the US were also included in the study.
The Daily Mail reports that only 8 out of 10 people who took the tea actually paid. The national average of people who paid for their tea was around 92 percent.
The study also concluded that 100 percent of the people in Hawaii and Alabama paid for their tea, which resulted in those states topping the list for being the most honest places in America.
The Daily Banter reports that other interesting facts were determined by the study. Women were slightly more honest than men. The study also indicated that people with long hair as well as people with blond hair tended to be more honest. Furthermore, people who were in groups were generally more honest than people who were alone.
