article imageU.S. drone strike kills 3 suspected militants in Yemen

By Sami Zaatari     Jul 30, 2013 in World
At least 3 suspected Al-Qaeda linked militants were killed when the car they were traveling in was struck by a U.S. drone.
The suspects, two Yemenis, and one Saudi, were alleged to have links with Al-Qaeda's Yemeni branch, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
The latest drone strike follows that of another drone strike carried out on Saturday, at least 6 suspected militants were killed in Saturday's drone attack that was carried out in southern Yemen.
The U.S. has carried out several drone strikes in Yemen, mainly targeting Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which it considers to be one of the deadliest Al-Qaeda affiliates.
The organisation had recently stated that it's deputy leader, Saeed al-Shihri, was killed by an American drone strike.
While the drone strikes in Yemen have had success against militants, the strikes have also caused resentment amongst the local population, with analysts arguing that such strikes fuel and incite many to join the ranks of Al-Qaeda.
