article imageFlorida Georgia Line ties country record for most weeks at No. 1

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 27, 2013 in Entertainment
Florida Georgia Line's hit single "Cruise" has spent 21 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, for the week ending August 3, 2013.
The country duo is made up of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley and they are signed to Republic Nashville.
As I had reported on July 1, Florida Georgia Line, were at 17 weeks at No. 1 and now they were able to surpass that milestone to an even more impressive one, with 21 weeks.
They are tied with such classic songs as Hank Snow’s “I’m Moving On,” Webb Pierce’s “In the Jailhouse Now” and Eddy Arnold’s “I’ll Hold You In My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms),” as the fourth single to have stayed at No. 1 for that long.
In my recent phone interview with Brian from the duo, on July 18, when we discussed the success of “Cruise,” he remarked, “That feels like a dream, it really does. Everything feels surreal right now, but we will continue to work hard and we will continue to chase our dream.”
Should “Cruise” still be reigning at the top position for one more week, then Tyler and Brian will have the record to themselves for the most weeks ever at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
