Columbus - A small plane crashed into a house and started a fire in Columbus, Indiana Thursday, July, 25, 2013. The crash was only a mile away from the city’s airport. The fire sent a dark smoke cloud that covered the entire city.
Noel Houze, Indiana State Police Sgt., stated the crashed happened this morning in a neighborhood located in Columbus, which is about 40 miles south of Indianapolis.
An eyewitness reported to Fox 59 that everyone involved exited safely. The fire department said the two people inside the small plane were injured. As of right now the pilot is in critical condition. There is no word on the other person who was on the plane.
Luckily, the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the home was very badly damaged.
Video footage from WTHR helicopter shows that the other homes surrounding the home with the fire escaped any potential damage.
