article imageU.S. suspends deliveries of F-16's to Egypt

By Sami Zaatari     Jul 24, 2013 in World
The U.S. has announced that it has suspended it's deliveries of four F-16 fighter jets to the Egyptian military, due to the current crisis in Egypt.
Pentagon Spokesman George Little speaking to reporters said:
Given the current situation in Egypt we do not believe it is appropriate to move forward at this time with the delivery of F-16s
Little went on to say that the U.S. administration seeks to "hasten" the return of a civilian democratically elected government in Egypt.
Meanwhile in Egypt itself, hopes for an end to the crisis seem far, with protests and violence continuing to plague the country.
The military chief of Egypt, General Sisi, who led the overthrow of former President Mohamed Mursi has called on people to demonstrate on the streets this Friday in a show of support for the military, and to give the military a mandate to fight violence.
