article imageEnglish Defence League Facebook page reaches 150,000 ‘likes’

By Richard Milnes     Jul 19, 2013 in World
The Facebook page of the English Defence League has now reached 150,000 ‘likes’ which the EDL attributes to the recent murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich.
In an article on its website the EDL explains,
It is unfortunate that the groundswell of support the EDL has received in recent months has come as a result of the death of Drummer Lee Rigby who was laid to rest in a ceremony on Thursday. We would gladly trade every like on Facebook since his death to have him back. Nevertheless, it has become clear that the people of Britain will not take Rigby’s murder lying down. We will no longer stand idly by as hate preachers are accommodated while truth speakers are banned from the country. We will no longer shrug our shoulders in begrudging acceptance as police enforce Sharia no-go zones on the streets of London and arrest British citizens as trespassers in those areas. We will no longer sit as silent accomplices while British culture is bowed in subservience to Islamic expansionism. 150,000 likes on Facebook is no mere symbol of shallow, curious interest. It is true nation-wide street-level support, and that support will translate into activism this July 20th in Birmingham.

By contrast the far-left Hope Not Hate website, which some have described as the ‘dirty tricks department’ of the Labour Party, due to its constant smear campaigns against political rivals has around 60,000 ‘likes’.
The Islamo-Marxist controlled Unite Against Fascism, which is supported by British Prime Minister David Cameron and which had Woolwich suspect Michael Adebolajo as a speaker at it’s Harrow rally in 2009 only has around 25,000 ‘likes’.
The EDL London Division alone has almost 15,000 Facebook ‘likes’. The Leicester Division has nearly 7,000 ‘likes’ and the EDL East Anglish Division over 6,000 ‘likes’.
