SyFy Channel has launched its first trailer for season one of its documentary series called "Heroes of Cosplay." It's set to premiere on August 13.
With Japanese anime becoming more and more mainstream by the year, since the early 2000s, many TV networks across North America are picking up. In the recent years, “cosplaying” (a compound term of “costume” and “playing”) has become more mainstream with the popularity of comic and anime conventions. Notable cosplayers are slowing gaining a reputation in the world of anime and on the Internet. There was a show called “America's Greatest Otaku” which focused on cosplayers; now, the SyFy Channel plans on launching its own cosplay contest show called “Heroes of Cosplay.”
Heroes of Cosplay, which is a reality TV documentary series in regards to cosplaying, is due to launch on the SyFy Channel on August 13. In preparation, SyFy has launched the first preview trailer for the series' first season. It is brief and gets to the point. The Crunchyroll article gives a list of participants: Yaya Han, Riki LeCotey, Monika Lee, Victora Schmidt, Chloe Dykstra, Jessica Merizan, Holly Conrad, Becky Young, and Jesse Lagers.
