Producers of the show 'Glee' and castmates of Canadian actor Cory Monteith, who died of a heroin and alcohol overdose Saturday in Vancouver, were aware of his addiction and collectively spoke to him about it. He was grateful and decided then on rehab.
Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on 'Glee' from the show's beginnings in 2009, followed through on the rehab decision and spent 30 days in an undisclosed California rehab in April. After getting out he was upbeat and spoke of plans for the future and how he wanted to help young people who may be experiencing similar issues to his.
“It wasn’t met with resistance,” TMZ wrote that a source with knowledge of the talk told them. “He was always so grateful and aware of how fortunate he was.”
In the days before his death, the actor/singer had spent time hiking Vancouver Island, where his hometown of Victoria is. He returned to Vancouver and was reportedly out with friends Friday night before returning alone to his Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel room.
Staff found him deceased in his room at noon PST the following day. Vancouver police said they will not be conducting an investigation to learn who sold the heroin to Monteith.
