Syrian rebels have sent additional forces to beef up dug-in rebels in the Damascus suburb of Qaboun, which is under heavy siege by Syrian Army forces trying to recapture it.
As reported by the LA Times and Voice of America, Syrian forces fighting on the side of the government are trying to reinstate the governments consolidation on power and control over Damascus and its surrounding environs in order to further capitalize on recent gains in the battlefield in central regions in the country.
Troops loyal to Assad are currently fighting in the Damascus neighborhood of Qaboun, a largely Sunni district of the city.
As a result of the siege of this neighborhood and two others nearby in a bid to cut off these rebel forces and eliminate their presence in that region.
Reuters is now reporting that Syrian rebels from elsewhere are sending reinforcements to this suburb to try and cut off this government offensive and regain rebel losses in the capital. However it is not clear to date how many reinforcements will come to the aid of the entrenched rebels in Qaboun.
